Maintaining electricity production through a comprehensive approach to service life extension of steam turbines
Abstract
It’s an internationally accepted practice aimed at maintaining electricity production at the reached level until commissioning of new generating capacities. One of the fundamentals in ensuring safe reliable operation and determining whether thermal and nuclear power plants equipment life, including turbines, could be extended is to determine equipment conditions, analyze damage and failures, causes and metal degradation mechanisms, study the ageing causes and mechanisms. It is proposed to apply a comprehensive approach to the continued operation of steam turbines, while providing the required safety
